EdCET on June 17
The Education Common Entrance Test [EdCET - 2001] for admissions to B. Ed course in over 90 education colleges in the State will be held on June 17th. As many as 1.57 lakh candidates would be appearing for the test at 378 centres in 34 towns as against 1.85 lakh at 430 centres in as many towns last year.
The results would be declared in the first week of July and the admissions completed by the end of the month. The classes would begin by August 1 in keeping with a State Government order regulating the academic year for education colleges.
The Government had addressed a letter to the National Council for Teacher Education [NCTE] to complete the process of recognition of new education colleges by July first week so that a uniform academic schedule was maintained in all institutions.
Hyderabad varsity given top grade
The University of Hyderabad has been given a top grade with 'five stars' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of the University Grants Commission, with overall institutional score of more than 75 percent.
The grading is done using seven criteria: curricular aspects; teaching, learning and evaluation; research, consultancy and extension; infrastructure and learning resources; student support and progression; organisation and management and healthy practices.
