Cool creative learning for hot summer

Summer holidays can no longer remain uncharted and unplanned interludes in a child’s growing years. Indoor activities for children seem to have their limitations. In seminars and workshops this problem is repeatedly reviewed and had been suggested that friendly programme could be evolved which would provide a creative outlet for holiday and leisure time for a child's energies. Summer camps seem to be a right solution. Normally the summer session begins on April 15 and ends on May 30.

In Twin City various organisations offers a wide range of activities which have been included from time to time to suite the growing needs and wishes of the young participants. Normally the activities of these centers are - aerobics, crafts, clay modeling, computer training, dance, gymnastics, horse riding, karate, and indoor & outdoor games. Some organisations are giving costly training i.e., Music, magic tricks, nature camp, photography, philately, video films, roller skating, sight seeing trips, slide shows, swimming, shooting, spoken English and also academic guidance. For these the organisers charge 500 to 2500 rupees from each student. The price depends on the reputation of organisations. These camps duration will be 30 to 45 days, after the completion most of the organisations are issuing certificates too.

Once they are through the introductory phase, they are assessed and depending on the interest of the child, he/she is put on to basic training. 'We take about 50 students every year and training is given according to their age and interest. The training includes development of their motor abilities, skills, technique and tactics. One thing that the kids develop at this stage is a competitive spirit. And once they realise that they are winning, they are more professionally inclined' says K. Eshwar Pillai, who has giving cricket couching at LB Nagar.

In twin Cities various schools, volunteer organisations including government organisations like
Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, Bala Bhavan are conducting summer camps and all of them charge premium. 'This is modern business which is being implemented under the roof of creativity and education. Normally in every private school and government schools they have extra curriculum. Than what is the need of the summer camps? It's a rich cult, which is common man’s dream' criticises Srinivas, a resident of Sainikpuri.

Most of the organisers are justifiably proud of their efficient and experienced faculty members who work with high level of dedication striving to draw out the talents in a child within the short duration. Some were arranged special academic guidance for children, especially from class eight to tenth, to keep in touch with their studies during the holidays. Usually these camps are two sessions. The morning session begins around 9 am and concludes at noon, while the afternoon session starts around 13 hours and goes on till 16 hours.
