The GIAS service provides three types of account:

TCP/IP Accounts
Shell accounts provides a menu based access to internet services such as e-mail, ftp, remote login (Telnet) and text based browsing facility (Lynx). Access via shell accounts is a technical access with VSNL host
providing all the services. The access is limited to text based services.
TCP/IP accounts provide full internet access ,the users may to need to use their own software for internet access . Common available operating systems on PC's such as IBM-Warp, Windows '95 can be used for these types of access.
Access to GIAS is available via dial up lines (upto 33.6 Kbps) or via leased lines (9.6Kbps-2Mbps or higher).
