Email, chat, and newsgroups are the most
common way to reach out and e-touch someone over the Internet.
Email is just like plain old
stamp-and- envelope mail (only faster - much faster). Online chat is
similar to face-to-face chat - you can
talk to people one-on-one or in groups - only you type instead of gab. And
newsgroups are an online version of magazine subscriptions, except they're
written by the subscribers (including you). Though similar to their real-world
equivalents, these forms of online communication have their own unique
quirks and pitfalls. So, before you start clicking "Send," you may want to pick up some online
manners (netiquette), figure out how to deal with unsolicited emails
(spam), and learn how to do things like Web-matize your email (by adding images and formatting) or create your own
newsgroup. Choose from the articles listed to the left and
prepare to connect! |
