Software Private Limited is a member of
D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P.'s Global
Information Technology Group. Established in
Hyderabad in 1996, D. E. Shaw India is a
state-of-the-art development center that works in
coordination with the parent firm's international offices
to maintain the company's technological leadership in
areas of securities information management, market
evaluation, and order execution.
In addition, D. E. Shaw India is
involved in the development of Internet-based services
that include Juno Online Services Inc. the world's first free
e-mail service, and Far Sight Financial Services which provides integrated personal financial services
over the World Wide Web.
Technology:
D. E. Shaw India invests heavily to
maintain its technical edge. Our researchers and
programmers are supported by a company-wide distributed
computing environment incorporating UNIX-based Sun
UltraSPARC file servers. On the client side, development
is done on PCs running MS Windows NT. The company's Sun
workstations and PCs are all connected via a high-speed,
fault-tolerant TCP/IP network, and data connections with
our international offices are maintained via dedicated
high-speed satellite links.
D. E. Shaw India focuses on distributed
object-oriented computing, quantitative analysis,
advanced database programming (OODBMS, RDBMS), Web-based
computing (Java, CGI programming), and network
administration.
