Business : Industries : Industrial Parks
* Over 25,000 acres of land has been developed across the state for industrial
use.
* The Ultra Modern Hi-Tech city exclusively for the Infotech Industry is fast
coming up near Hyderabad. (see section on Hi-Tech
city)
* The state is also home to several revolutionary Industrial Parks and
comprehensive industrial zones. A look at the major Centers of Excellence :
Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) :
The Export Promotion Industrial Park, a venture of the APIIC in collaboration
with the Central Government, lies just 30 kms from Hyderabad at Pashamylaram.
Spread over 207 acres, it offers Standard Design Factory (SDF) buildings which
are of the Ready-to-Occupy type. A never-before opportunity for exporters, the
minimum export requirement is set at 30% of overall turnover. Infrastructure
facilities include abundant power and water, wide road and rail links and access
to the international airport at Hyderabad. Communication is assured through the
comprehensive telecom links to various parts of the country.
Apparel Export Park (AEP) :
The Apparel Export Park comprises a consolidation of several small- scale
garment making units in and around Hyderabad and other parts of the country. It
lies 18 kms from Hyderabad at Gundlapochampally. The park receives vital design
& skill support from training and research institutes like National
Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad Institute of Fashion
Technology (HIFT) and Apparel Training Design Centre.
The AEP occupies 176 acres
of prime industrial land complete with black topped roads, abundant water and
power supplies, services like fire prevention, banks, post offices, exhibition
halls, and shopping complexes. The telecommunication facilities of the park are
comparable with the best in the country. Andhra Pradesh provides extensive
support for enterprises in the Park in the form of skilled manpower, an
integrated infrastructure policy, comprehensive support from financial
institutions and backup from Central and State governments.
Vishakapatnam Export Processing Zone (VEPZ) :
Set up in 1989, Vishakapatnam is the hub of several heavy engineering industries
like integrated steel plants, fertilizer and oil refining industries etc. The
Vishakhapatnam Export Processing Zone is spread over 370 acres with 163 acres
constituting Phase I of the project. It is a mere 15 km from the airport and 25
km from the second largest sea port in the country. The zone only permits the
establishment of non-polluting units on the developed plots and readily available
built up area offered on lease.
The VEPZ is truly the prime centre for industry with it's
infrastructure. The zone is exempted from power cuts, has an independent water
supply system plus bore wells, and is well connected by land, sea and air. Vital
facilities like customs and central excise clearances, telephone, telex, fax,
post, provide efficient communications.
Vizag has several institutions and is a
reliable resource for skilled manpower. Further, the single window system,
clearances and incentives from state and central government add to the potential
of the zone.
Growth Centre Bobbili :
The Growth Centre at Bobbili is yet another venture dedicated to developing entrepreneurship
in the state. Covering 1,150 aces, it is 100 kms from Vizag and
India's second largest port.
Vizag is a city with highly developed industries
and is surrounded by areas rich in iron ore, manganese and coal deposits. The
growth centre is therefore ideally suited for iron and steel industries; jute
& coir based units and handicraft production also has great potential here.
Power is provided through a dedicated substation and the nearby Vegavathi river
provides adequate water supply. The centre has it's own telephone exchange and
is scattered with commercial establishments.
Additional Growth Centers in Ongole and Hindupur are under rapid development.
